RRsat introduces new content management, distribution solution for Russia, CIS

RRsat Global Communications Network recently debuted its new content management and distribution solution, which allows leading international broadcasters to reach cable headends and direct-to-home (DTH) television broadcasting in Russia as well as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The new and efficient solution developed by RRsat includes services like content capture, production, and management via distribution and extensive playout services from the RRsat EmeK HaEla teleport in Israel. The content management and distribution solution utilizes idea frequencies for TV contribution to cable headends and for DTh television broadcasting.

RRsat Chief Commercial Officer Lior Rival said, “We are thrilled to offer a new solution that, combined with the optimal coverage provided by the Yamal -300K satellite, enables our customers to reach almost every household in Russia and the CIS, a population exceeding 275 million people.”

TCS launches high-volume Cloud Messaging Service

TeleCommunication Systems, a leading provider of messaging and location technology to wireless carriers, now offers a new messaging service called Cloud Messaging Service, aiming to deliver short message service (SMS) messages over 2G, 3G and LTE networks. The new service helps cut the costs of buying new hardware and software, and also lessen operating costs correlated with non-stop operation.

In a company statement, TCS’ Commercial Software Group SVP Jay Whitehurst said: “Leveraging TCS’ extensive experience with comprehensive, end-to-end messaging solutions, our Cloud Messaging Platform offers a wide range of applications and functionalities that meet key business and budget requirements, while offering operators an opportunity to add value and increase average revenue per user. Serving as a proactive partner to our customers, TCS provides project management, reporting and around-the-clock monitoring to ensure the success of our customers’ deployments.”

The Cloud Messaging Service simultaneously sends SMS messages across various protocols, like email, paging, website data and secure messaging with acknowledgement. The scalable and redundant platform also supports Enhanced Messaging Service, premium messaging events, prepaid SMS and embedded promotions. Cloud Messaging Service also abides by the requirements of the law enforcement, number pooling and wireless number portability. TeleCommunication Systems offers inter-carrier support and easy integration with enterprise applications.

TCS anticipates the service to be adopted by various industries, like education, healthcare, manufacturing and public safety.
